Introducing....

Introducing.....Abby! Abigail Elizabeth Cronin was born on December 31st, 2010....just six hours shy of the new year (at least Daddy gets his tax break!) and we are all so happy she is here! I went to work on my due date, 12/30, and listened to everyone tell me how crazy I was. It was a long day, but we kept moving. Came home that night, and had lots of energy to clean (but who knows....that could just be a normal Thursday), and ended up staying up late since neither of us had to work the next day. I woke up at 3am, felt a little pop, and my water broke!

We made it to the hospital at around 5am, and they let me labor on my own until about 9:30. Since there was meconium when my water broke, they wanted things to move a little quicker, so they started me on Pitocin. By about 4pm, I was 10cm, and almost ready to push! After about an hour of pushing, and a lot of teamwork from Daddy, Aunt Holly, and Uncle Adam, Abigail Elizabeth was born at 5:43 pm. She let out a few cries, laid on my chest, then her eyes found Mommy and Daddy and she was perfectly content. Since she was technically high risk because of the meconium, the staff took her right away. One of my favorite residents happened to be there from the NICU, and he quickly announced that she was "perfect." 7 lb 9oz, 20.5 in long, and beautiful strawberry blonde hair!

The first few days home were a challenge. Abby earned the nickname "Mello Yellow," and spent the first couple days back and forth to get blood drawn. After a tough first week, she was back to a beautiful pink, and her weight was back up to 7lb 5oz! We have had lots of visitors, and couldn't ask for better family and friends. We couldn't have done it without all of the help! Daddy finally had to go to work this week, and it's hard to say who was sadder. But, we're starting to figure out our routine, and had our first outing alone today. Who thought going to the post office could be such an accomplishment??
